October 10, 2018 Rock Fishing

Morning Six SIR met at Wally's house at the BCoD (5 AM) on Wednesday to carpool to Half Moon Bay for a wonderful day of fishing for Rock Fish (AKA Rock Cod) on the Queen of Hearts party boat. We arrived at HMB 20 minutes before the bait shop opened where we bought our tickets.

There were a total of 8 fisherman, one crew, and the captian on the boat that could accomadate more than 30 fishermen on the 50 foot vessel. We got under way at 6:37 AM.

Pellicans Pellicans
There were tens of thousands of pellicans on the rock jetty as we powered out of the marina. Later on the way to our first fishing spot we observed a Humpback Whale not far from our boat toward the shore.

Boat Track The red track shows on the map where we went. We were between 1 and 2 miles off shore and traveled about 35 total miles stopping at various places where the captian could see fish on his insterments.

Wally's Catch Wally's Catch John's Catch Heber's Catch Mess of Fish We all caught our limits.

Bob with the Biggest Fish
Bob caught the only Ling Cod, which was the largest fish of the day weighing in at a little over 7 pounds. For this he won the ships pool of $60 and the SIR "Biggest Fish" prize, a "DeLier" (fish scale and tape measure).

Everyone said that they had a great time. We were home before 2 PM with pounds of fish.
